Executive Leadership

Chief Scientific Officer

Looking for your next Chief Scientific Officer role?

Whether you’re looking to secure your first, or next Chief Operating Officer role, the team are on hand to guide you every step of the way.

The Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) must ensure that the scientific research and product development of the business is best-in-class.

Often at the forefront of their disciplines, many CSO’s are world-leading scientists in their own fields. The role can be broad, which requires CCO to work closely with clients to identify the more important assessment criteria for the appointment, where issues under consideration often include balancing responsibilities from discovery research, to pre-clinical, and clinical development. The depth, complexity and mix of the product pipeline can also determine aspects of selection.

The ability to lead people, influence, and align the strategic components of the role is a crucial element to the CSO skillset, as the post-holder will often be leading the largest team in a life sciences organisation. The need for a CSO to blend scientific expertise with strategic business issues, manage budgets, and engage, align, and motivate scientific talent of their teams is also important, as well as being the biggest advocate for the company by communicating the impact the business can make on patients lives.
