Group Financial Controller

Looking for your next Group Financial Controller role?

Whether you’re looking to secure your first, or next Group Financial Controller role, the team are on hand to guide you every step of the way.

Typically found in larger organisations, the Group Financial Controller will be a trusted lieutenant to the CFO.

They will focus on group activities and their primary responsibility is to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of the group’s financial performance in order to provide the executive leadership team with the comprehensive data and insights they need to make informed strategic decisions. This will involve consolidation of the financial statements from multiple subsidiaries or divisions, reconciling any discrepancies, and presenting the group’s overall financial position in a clear and meaningful way.

The Group Financial Controller will also typically oversee the group’s treasury functions, managing cash flow, investments, and foreign exchange exposures to optimise the company’s financial position. They work closely with divisional controllers, directors and accounting teams to standardise accounting practices, implement robust internal controls, and drive continuous improvements in the group’s financial processes.

Beyond pure statutory responsibilities, the Group Financial Controller often takes on a business partnering role by advising department heads and offering guidance in order to improve financial decision-making and operational efficiency. The most effective Group Financial Controllers possess a rare blend of technical accounting expertise, commercial acumen and leadership skills and will often be well positioned when it comes to CFO succession planning.
