Reason and Purpose: 

This was a critical succession planning hire for Vitality with their longstanding and high-profile MD retiring and stepping into a Consultancy role.  The incoming MD needed to be a qualified physician or pharmacist with exposure to successful tech-enablement across matrix organisations. Furthermore, there was a desire to attract someone with a high-profile in the sector, to act as a figure-head for the business.

Factors behind the award of the project included; understanding the brief; sector and specific nuances of the search; industry track record; and the evident networks to be able to draw from demonstrated in the pitch process.  

Search Process/ Methodology:   

Compass Carter Osborne undertook a thorough search process. In addition to our established networks within the Consumer Healthcare and Healthcare delivery sectors, we also worked to identify multisite consumer businesses in non-healthcare sectors.

In a robust, yet thorough search CCO delivered an outstanding candidate in Dr Arun Thiyagarajan. As Global Healthcare Transformation Director at Bupa, he was instrumental in the development of their organisational and healthcare strategy across all markets, with responsibility for digital transformation strategy and platforms and healthcare pathways.
