Board Chair Social Care

Executive Chair

Nurseplus is a leading specialist provider of care and support services for the healthcare industry. Nurseplus was set up in 2005 to supply agency care workers and nurses to nursing homes, residential care homes and private hospitals, alongside providing care in the home. By 2014, the business had 35 branches.

In 2014 Sovereign Capital backed the founding management team to grow the business organically by rolling out new branches in existing locations and in complementary regions of the UK.

The business has since grown from 35 branches at investment to 52, incorporating both geographical and service line diversification to deliver national care to both the public and private sectors.

Reason and Purpose:

As part of founder succession planning and to further professionalise the business through newly established roles, a new Chair was required to support the newly appointed CEO as the business heads towards an exit in a fairly short timeframe.

The successful Chair had to be outward-facing, adept at creating auction tension, lead on the narrative for sale and have the capability and experience of mentoring and nurturing an executive team who will be fit for purpose for the company’s next iteration. Crucially, they should have served as a CEO in the not too distant past also.

Compass Carter Osborne undertook a thorough search process.  In addition to our established networks within the Homecare and Residential Care sectors, we also worked to identify competitor staffing companies.
